The most important product updates for February 2023.
1. Domain scope customization
We have recently made an improvement to our project settings inside the tool. Previously, users were only able to customize their web crawling on the Site Audit step of creating a project, which was not very convenient. It also required an understanding of the robots.txt settings. We have now made it easier for users to customize their website crawling.
In the first step of creating a project, we have added two variables for users to choose from:
- Protocol (http or/and https).
- URLs for crawling (Path, Domain, Subdomains).
By default, all users will have http + https and Subdomains selected. In addition, these settings will be available in the settings of existing projects.
2. Site Audit Updates
Filter for the crawled pages
Previously, you could search for some specific URL using the search bar. It was quite simple but very limited. Thus, we‘ve decided to improve it and add a couple of useful filtering options. You can search either by the title or URL.
Here are all the possible Conditions:
- Contains (parameter contains selected value)
- Does not contain (parameter does not contain selected value)
- Is (parameter is equal to selected value)
- Is not (parameter is not equal to selected value)
You can add a few conditions if you need to make a deeper search.
New PDF export
Previously, you were only able to export a PDF report with a summary of the Site Audit results along with the list of all the crawled pages. However, we do understand that usually, you do not need the full list of the URLs in the report. Thus, we have separated the summary and the full report into 2 different exporting options.
Also, from here you can upload the logo you want to use to white-label the report.
Domain info in the Site Audit summary
We are pleased to present the new “Domain Info” button that is now located in the Site Audit summary. By clicking on it you will be provided with valuable information about your domain, such as:
- Who is hosting the site.
- Domain age and expiration date.
- Where the website is hosted.
All this information can be accessed quickly and easily straight from the Site Audit report summary.
Notification when our bot is unable to crawl your website
Sometimes it may happen that the pages on your website cannot be reached by our crawler. This may happen because of different reasons, but the most frequent reason is 4xx or 5xx errors. They happen either because our bot is restricted from crawling the website or your server does not respond to its requests.
In such cases, it is impossible to complete an objective and informative report in case there are a lot of URLs that we just cannot reach and get data from them. Thus, from now as soon as our bot faces such an issue, you will get a notification about it right in the Site Audit tool, so you can act quickly to resolve it.
New page and site-level checks in the Site Audit tool
- Homepage with the title tag of “Home”
- Links in the footer with a no-follow attribute
- Google Tag Manager code in <body>
- GA clicks dropped more than 25% for the last 7 days
- GSC clicks dropped more than 25% for the last 7 days
3. Site Monitoring Updates
New sidebar
For your convenience, we have added a new sidebar, so the users can now filter the updates made on their websites by type. Within the sidebar there are 3 values:
All Updates – all events together.
Site Audit Updates – only events related to changes in Site Audit issues.
Content Updates – only events that we create separately for Site Monitoring.
4. New tabs in the Page Details report
Structured data
We do understand that sometimes it may be difficult to check whether the structured data is implemented properly on a page. Sometimes you may not even know if some of your pages have it. That is why this tab was added to the Page Details report. With it you can check if the structured data is present on a specific URL and what content it has.
The structured data tab is now available for all users with the Standard and higher subscription plans.
Page Monitoring
We are introducing a new tab in Page Audit called Page Monitoring. It will display page events, similar to the data from Site Monitoring but with some differences.
This tab will allow you to track all the issues that appeared or were fixed on the specific page. For events of the Content Updates type, there will be the possibility to open the event and see the changes in the content of the page.
Search Metrics
This new tab is an incredible source of information integrated from the Google Search Console right into Sitechecker. It will give you a chance to see all the main metrics for the specific page right in the Page Details report.
Here we analyze the performance of the page (Clicks, Impressions, CTR, Average Position, and all the Ranked Keywords).
By scrolling down you will see the insights about your audience sorted by the type of device and visitors countries and positions for 15 keywords with the highest Potential Rank over a selected period.
The last section of the Search Metrics tab will present you with all the keywords this particular page was ranking for in the period you choose in the calendar. There you will also see the main metrics for the collected keywords and will be able to export this data.
The search metrics tab is now available for all users with the Standard and higher subscription plans in case GSC is connected to Sitechecker.
5. Rank Tracker updates
Pages tab
Recently our users were unable to view general data for certain URLs and group keys by page. This was an issue as analysis of position change occurs not just on the level of specific keywords, but also on the level of pages. To conduct such analysis, users had to constantly switch the filter by page and reload the data in the table, which was inconvenient. Plus there were no separate valuable metrics per page. We have since resolved this issue.
Now by heading to the Pages tab you can see the list of URLs that we’ve collected from the real search results. Next to each, there is a quick metrics about top keyword, volume, position, etc. If you want to get even more data, you can click on the URL and expand the table. This will allow you to see the full list of the keywords the page is ranking for with the metrics for each of them.
Moreover, this section is now can be exported as a separate report into a CSV file or Google Sheets.
Notes on the keywords graph
Before our users could only add their custom notes to the keyword graph, however, this functionality was pretty limited and required manual input. For now, there are some useful notes that can help you to even better understand changes in the keyword positioning.
Google updates
We are super excited to announce our most popular feature requests from the customers – the feature to see all the Google updates on the keywords graph. From now you can not only see when the update took place but also read its details. Just hover over the small Google logo at the bottom of the graph to get this info.
Tracked Keywords
In the same way, by hovering over the little key logo, you can see when and how many keywords were added or removed from tracking.
Custom notes
You can also continue leaving custom notes about any activity that you think may influence your positioning. As an example, it is a great feature to leave notes about changes in your design, content, linking, or any other important information that may change your positioning in search results.
Best position column
While tracking the keywords’ ranking, it is important to see what was the best position of the keyword and when it was achieved. Previously we did not have such information, however, now you can see it right in the Rank Tracker tool by heading to the Advanced view and clicking on the “Columns” tab. Here is what they both show:
Best Position – The best position your website ever achieved in SERP by this keyword from the beginning of tracking position by this keyword.
Best Position Date – The date when the best position by keyword was achieved.
6. New pricing
As we constantly add new features to Sitechecker and improve the existing ones, it could not be maintained the same way without updates in the pricing. We’ve slightly raised our prices, however, also increased the limits for each subscription plan. Along with this, you can expect more unique features that each plan will be offering to you.
